SEARCH FOR A STAR 1999
In 1999 we came up with a concept to use reality TV to find stars off the street. In the UK we offered this concept to our friends at Polydor Records, BMG/RCA, Warners, and many other London based record labels. The BBC, and ITV responded well to our concept, and we had many lengthy discussions with their researchers. Due to the major interest we launched a “pilot” scheme using a local newspaper, and a national scheme using The Stage Newspaper. We received an overwhelming response, and could not keep up with the sack fulls of mail, and entries. We knew we were on to a winner. We kept all the record labels and TV companies up to date with our progress, and even had an ITV researcher as a contestant in our pilot scheme. But one day everyone stopped talking to us................................?
